From the moment that you drive into the Forward Equestrian Centre a sense of calm pervades the air. Set in bucolic countryside, Rebecca has created a welcoming sanctuary for all visitors, whether experienced riders or a novice like myself. My daughter Katherine aged 9 started riding at the centre earlier this year and has introduced a number of her friends to the centre. As I watched Katherine’s lessons, I decided to take lessons as well. My 6-year-old daughter is currently in active treatment for leukemia. Prior to her diagnosis, and in the initial stages of he treatment she was severely incapacitated by back and knee pain, compounded by a significant loss of muscle. Her treatment means she can't be in school right now, and we have to avoid many places and events kids normally enjoy. She has been riding with Forward for over a month now, and it has been wonderful. Rebecca and the other staff are great with young children, and have been incredibly kind, flexible, and supportive in dealing with our situation. We have been delighted to have our ten-year-old son participate in Rebecca's camps and private therapeutic riding lessons for the past year. Both camps and lessons are about so much more than lessons! They are about the love and connection that Rebecca has for kids and animals, they are about modeling and teaching caring and sensitivity to our son, and valuing and loving the precious individuality of our child, this is what Rebecca does best.
