Equine Assisted Therapy and Learning - individual sessions for children and adults featuring Calmward™
Equine Assisted Therapy and Learning (EATL) combines evidence-based approaches to therapy and learning with horses in a natural environment. EATL at Kiowa Farm is grounded in the classical principles of horsemanship and the Calmward™ method which is a movement based, practical approach to managing stress. Calmward™ is a combination of the words calm and forward which are foundation principles in equitation upon which all else in the training of horse and rider is built. Similarly, each EATL session addresses main factors that mitigate stress such as movement, social connection, sensory stimulation, skills , tools, fun, and more. The resulting calmness in body and mind coupled with the natural biofeedback of the horse enhances learning, the effectiveness of therapies and interventions, and ultimately resilience. Sessions are individually tailored and provided at either a facilitator or clinical level. EATL programs are individually tailored to meet the clients therapeutic or learning goals. No experience is required and programs are inclusive
